- Description
- An established main contractor has an immediate requirement for an Estimator to join their organisation.
The scope of the works tendered are up to £2m in the social housing refurbishment market.
MAIN DUTIES
• Reporting to the Commercial Manager/Commercial Director
• Responsible for the financial preparation of bids for the business
• Work in partnership with the bid team throughout the pre-construction and bid process
• Ensure bids are risk assessed and reported to the commercial director
• Prepare submissions in he agreed format consistent with the company branding
• Present submissions to the senior management team for review
• Manage handover of successful bids to the delivery team
• Provide feedback and responses for the delivery team to assist with any post tender queries
• Preparing the cost components of the proposal, including understanding of the task, planning, assessing past performance and personnel in partnership with the management team
• Attend meetings with Client, Designers, Project Managers and relevant stakeholders as required
• Manage the supply chain to ensure competitive quotes are obtained
• Ensure supply chain quotes are checked to ensure compliance with the tender documents
• Manage tender clarifications throughout the bid process
• Measuring & ‘Taking-Off’ quantities from drawings
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
• Confident oral and written communication skills
• Effectively manage time in order to meet deadlines
• Mentor and support others
• Ability to negotiate and influence
• Previous experience within Estimating
• Must have planned maintenance and refurbishment experience
• Up to date relevant knowledge of building legislation
• Up to date relevant knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
