- Description
- A leading logistics and support services provider to some of the most complex construction projects in the UK are looking for a Head of Quality, Health, Safety and Environment to join their organisation.
The role of the Head of Quality Health Safety and Environmental QHSE is to ensure that services provided are fit for purpose and meet both external and internal requirements, including legal compliance and customer expectations.
You will be expected to competently coordinate the activities required to meet the quality standards. You will monitor and advise on the performance of the quality management system, non-compliance and improvement (measuring against set indicators) and produce data and reports on performance.
A key part of your role will also include planning and implementing the Company’s Traffic Management Programme and Quality Manual, ensuring strict compliance in this area, assisting the Group to achieve a high level of health and safety and environment that protects the health and safety of staff, subcontractors, visitors and customers by ensuring that risk in the workplace are properly controlled and that any impact on the environment are minimised.
As the health and safety specialist you will be expected to offer your expert knowledge and skills to generate and promote a positive health and safety culture. This represents a crucial role in helping control operational and occupational risk
You will also be responsible for ensuring that all safety legislation is adhered to and policies and practices are adopted. You will help to plan, implement, monitor and review the protective and preventative measures that minimise operational losses, occupational health problems, accidents, incidents and injuries.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Your role will involve the following;
• promoting quality achievement and performance improvement throughout the company and group companies where required;
• managing the company's traffic management programme / initiatives.
• setting QA compliance objectives and ensuring that targets are achieved;
• maintaining awareness of the business context and company profitability, including budgetary control issues;
• assessing the product specifications of the company and its suppliers, and comparing with customer requirements;
• working with purchasing staff to establish quality requirements from external suppliers;
• ensuring compliance with national and international standards and legislation;
• considering the application of environmental and health and safety standards;
• agreeing standards and establishing clearly defined quality methods for staff to apply;
• setting up and maintaining controls and documentation procedures;
• identifying relevant quality-related training needs and delivering training;
• collating and analysing performance data and charts against defined parameters;
• supervising technical staff in carrying out tests and checks;
• writing technical and management systems reports;
• bringing together staff of different disciplines and driving the group to plan, formulate and agree comprehensive quality procedures;
• persuading reluctant staff to change their way of working to incorporate quality methods;
• liaising with customers' auditors and ensuring the execution of corrective action and compliance with customers' specifications;
• preparing clear explanatory documents which assist in monitoring performance by gathering relevant data and producing statistical reports.
• liaising with managers and staff throughout the Group to ensure that the QA system is functioning properly and advise on changes and their implementation
• providing training, tools and techniques to enable the Group and individual departments to achieve quality
• preparing evidence files, completing questionnaires and hosting external audits and inspections for the above bodies and other interested parties
• maintenance and the re-application awards and licenses such as SIA, NSI, BSIA, Achilles, Linkup, Construction line, CHAS, GHSG and Safe Contractor
• Maintenance, control and internal auditing of our management systems, documentation and internal library for standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, BS 7499 and BS 7858
• completing questionnaires and supplying information for tenders
• collecting information and documents from managers and heads of departments for tenders.
The role will also require you to deal with health, safety and environment management and monitoring, which will include;
• promote good health, safety and environmental practices throughout all activities
• review the Health, Safety and Environment Policy Statements on an annual basis
• considering the application of environmental and health and safety standards;
