- Description
- A major contractor are seeking a Senior Planner to supplement their pre-qualification, tender and contract planning capability. This vacancy will fill a gap in the company’s planning capability and promises a suitable candidate with a building background an interesting and varied role. Many of the projects are built on challenging sites and involve interesting logistics and structures.
The company have a turnover exceeding £200m in the next year and is active in health, education and social housing.
The Senior Planning Engineer they are seeking needs to fulfil most of the following,
- Prepare Tender Programmes and Method Statements using tender documents, drawings, site visits, and by liaison with the Estimators and Contracts Manager.
- Explain Scope of works and discuss programme and methodology with the Managing Planner and Estimator.
- Prepare scaffold schedules at tender stage as requested
- Develop the tender programme into a detailed contract stage programme. This will include close liaison with the Contracts Manager, Site Manager, Contract Surveyor and Buyer.
- Produce an Information Required Schedule, linked to the Contract Master Programme or Target Programme.
- Produce Target/Work Programmes, including close liaison with the Contracts Manager and Site Manager.
- Produce reports and advise on measures to maintain programme objectives.
- Record feed-back from site to produce as-built programmes.
- Use feed-back from site visits to update historical data e.g. output rates.
- Produce and issue batch reports to site for recording weekly progress.
- Software knowledge of Asta Powerproject, MS Word & Excel
Candidate Profile
Ideally the candidate will have demonstrable planning experience of building projects, both refurbishment and newbuild, in the sectors in which the company operates. They will enjoy some site work but principally will be expected to work in an office environment. A professional qualification is desirable - and a good knowledge of health and safety is to be expected.
A self motivated and confident individual is sought who is capable working on their own initiative and as part of a team in an environment where a variety of tasks need to be performed across the company’s operating sectors. The individual will on occasions meet clients and consultants and will be expected to be professional and well presented at all times.
