Description
Our client is a leading international construction group, currently involved in the construction of a landmark high rise building project in Central Amsterdam. As Cost Controller you will be presiding and coordinating the project control activities.
 
The Cost Controller is responsible for:
  • preparing monthly analysis and reports on expenditures, work progress, commitments, budget performance and schedule performance for all actions on site;
  • defining the WBS for the project and verified the correct allocation of orders, invoices and costs to be correct WBS;
  • monitor, with the support of the quantity surveyors, the correctness of the invoices received for supplies and subcontracts;
  • developing and maintaining database for all costs based on past performance, cost data and indices of material costs to be used in the preparation of cost estimates and budgets and performance analysis;
  • tracking actual costs of construction activities and compare those to the budgeted costs for each work section as well as using data to forecast cost to completion;
  • comparing actual and budgeted percentage completion to date;
  • defining, implementing and updating the project’s report, in compliance with both client and corporate standards;
  • highlighting to the Project Director/Manager and the Project Control team, all the criticalities and deviations in production or profitability and identifying where there are any differences arise throughout the project, developing the related economic and temporal forecast to allow the Project Director/Manager to formulate strategies to recover or improve the result;
  • managing the cost control (and accounting) related software, ensuring his setting and updating the project data and related output;
  • supporting the Project Control Director in preparing the project initial budget, further revisions and timely distribution in quarters and months;
  • providing to Project Directors/Manager with accounting printouts referred to the job orders and to the cost centres;
  • taking care of the analytical accounting entries needed for processing the monthly statements (production, invoices to be received, domestic freights, standard costs, etc.);
  • preparing, on a monthly basis, detailed statements of the costs for each expense centre of the project;
 
Minimum requirements:
  • experience in similar roles > 5 yrs;
  • depth knowledge of the reference market, the solutions/services the company can provide and the company’s competitors;
  • ability to think in terms of cost centres/profit centres regarding the activity of the processes;
  • knowledge of accounting processes;
  • basic technical knowledge with regard to the job-site production processes for a correct control of the data referred to costs and production;
  • excellent knowledge of English;
  • ability to organise the activities in the framework of the process managed and in relation to the other corporate processes, identifying and removing the inefficiencies; 
  • bachelor’s degree in civil, management or construction engineering/architecture;
  • experience within multicultural and international environment working for General contractor companies in private and public civil engineering projects;
  • good knowledge of MS Office Suite, in particular of Excel, and of database management programs;
