- Description
- Our client is a specialist contracting company providing clients with quality, high flatness tolerance concrete floors for industrial use. They are also part of a Global organisation working in an international environment.
Purpose and objectives of the role:
The role will involve evolving and developing a specialist floor flatness testing office to cover the whole of Germany.
The scope and responsibility of this position is to lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the business - comprising of business and strategy development, sales, commercial/contracts admin, project management, tenders, construction methodologies, operations and resources management.
This position will directly build and manage a team of floor flatness surveyors to respond to technical issues along with an Administration Assistant to support the business activities.
The Business Development and Operations Manager is also responsible for the Group and financial governance that includes adherence to Company policies, standard operating procedures, technical specifications and national regulations.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Business Development– Researching and establishing new business. Build and maintain relationship with new and existing clients, sourcing new opportunities, measuring and pricing projects. Developing new business from leads generated or through existing contacts, incoming calls / web leads.
- National Business Development- to assist with new development of business objective in other areas of Europe to meet the needs of clients.
- Project Management- assigning personnel to projects, assigning equipment, liaising with the customer and their client, providing Safe Work Method Statements. Closing out the job ensuing all forms are completed properly by the site personnel, ensuring the projects are invoiced. Scheduling of new projects and adding resources to those jobs.
Sales Management - project tendering/bids, Technical Sales, Design Support & Salestargets.
- Equipment Management- ensuring there is suitable equipment to meet existing and upcoming projects. Ensuring equipment is serviced and maintained. Ordering supplies needed for site, managing technicians PPE requirements, managing distribution of the kit to the site personnel.
- Occupational Health & Safety- Ensuring the Company insurances are kept up to date on OH&S management systems for our clients and that our Safe Work Method Statements or other OH&S requirements are met, such as individual inductions are completed.Compliance to Group Standard Operating Procedures, Industry Rules & Regulations & Country Financial Regulations.
- Group Support – to support other companies in the group with regulations and paperwork when travelling overseas.

- Ability to understand, manage and drive technical solutions, building flooring optimisation, civil and structural engineering principles relevant to products, systems and solutions.
- Ability to promote and sustain positive communications with clients that ensure cohesive and good working relations.
- Ability to conduct job responsibilities reviews with professional objectiveness and impartiality.
- Ability to manage “the details”, with discipline and diligence.
- Ability to work and stay positive under pressure - be comfortable taking full business responsibility.
- Ability to negotiate effectively in key areas of disputes and defects liabilities.
- Ability to adhere to Company SOPs, Company Governance rules and National Regulations.
- A native German speaker with a good understanding of English; written and spoken.
Experience/Qualifications (what have they done):
- Building or Civil Engineering related qualifications an advantage
- Managing a small construction based professional office an advantage
- Knowledge of surveying techniques an advantage
- Knowledge of the industrial flooring industry an advantage
- Knowledge of the materials handling industry an advantage
