- Our Client is a well-known main contractor that operate globally. Following the award of a major project, they urgently require an ambitious Technical Coordinator (Structural)to help oversee the delivery of a prestigious and highly complex construction project in Leiden.
The Position:
Reporting directly to the Technical Manager and indirectly to the site Construction Manager, the candidate will be accountable for ensuring the engineering worksrequired such as submittals, RFI’s, coordination drawings, updating documents, etc are complete, ready, and approved for Structural Subcontractor(s)to perform their scope of work,in the strictest of compliance to the contract documents.
This role is focused on workingbetween the Technical Design Office andConstructionteamwho aremanaging the Structural Subcontractor field operations and installation details for a large complex project, having stringent technical requirements.
It is expected the candidate will be a very detailed individual with previous experience working as a Structural Coordinator on technically complexprojects. There will be a significant amount of “hands on” work coordinating approved design documents and ensuring installed work in the field are in-compliance with the design and employers requirements. The candidate must have strong technicalskills and be able to relate to and communicate with the client, the project team, subcontractors of all tiers, vendors and immediately establish trust and confidence in his/her ability.
Responsibilities:
- Work intensively with the Engineering and Design team team (including 3rd party designers) to coordinate all the Structural trade work with other trades.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the contract documents (drawings and specifications), phasing plans, Structural systems interrelationships, construction sequencing and project schedule.
- Facilitate problem solving, as may arise, between structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical and specialist subcontractors during construction.
- Work closely with the Construction Manager and Technical Manager to lead the Structural subcontractor installation drawing approval process between the Structural subcontractor, Technical Office, Client (ESA), and the Local Authority having Jurisdiction, and Assist in the receipt and review of all Structural submittals.
- Log and post all Structural changes and as-built information on field drawings. Provide such information to BIM team so such information can be incorporated into the final as built model.
- Ensure all information is current and communicated with Structural/project team.
- Liaison with the Structural engineering consultant, supervisory engineers, Inspectors and relevant staff.
- Implement the QA/QC program for the Structural scope of work.
- Ensure that Structural Subcontractors adheres to relevant Quality documentation/records.
- Assist in the testing and commissioning of Structural equipment.
Requirements:
- Suitably qualified in civil or structural engineering with minimum of 5 years post graduate experience in related capacity.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Good English verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask, work to deadlines and work under pressure.
- Attention to detail.
