A well-established, medium-sized main contractor operating across London and the Home Counties is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. With project values typically ranging from £1M to £20M, this contractor delivers high-quality schemes across a range of sectors including commercial, education, community, healthcare, heritage, residential, leisure, and performing arts.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to progress their career within a structured and supportive environment. The role offers exposure to the full project lifecycle, working alongside an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor, and contributes to the financial management and control of live and upcoming construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Senior Quantity Surveyor across all stages of project delivery
- Assist with commercial management of several live or pre-construction projects
- Attend monthly CVR (Cost Value Reconciliation) meetings
- Assist in the management of subcontractor accounts and internal cost reporting
- Support with pricing analysis and post-tender assessments
- Conduct site visits and measure works for valuation purposes
- Ensure compliance with contract terms, specifications, and pricing
Requirements:
- HNC or above in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
- Strong numerical and commercial skills
- A collaborative attitude and eagerness to learn
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Located within a 45-minute commute of Barking, London
- Full right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship provided)
