- This main contractor is highly respected for their work on new build social housing contracts ranging in value between £500k to £10m.
The position will involve commercial management of projects including managing all procurement, valuation, contractual and commercial issues and formulating strategies for control of the projects and enhancement of final margins.
The initial project is to to initially run two small jobs which are 2 houses at £800k and 5 houses at £1.5m in the Reading area.
The Role:
Ensuring effective management of main contract and subcontract accounts through to final account including ensuring proper procedures are in place for preparing interim valuations, identifying and valuing variations, dealing with contractual matters, extension of time claims and any disputes that may arise.
Managing production of internal management reports including cost value reconciliations, profit plans and cash flow projections at regular intervals.
Working alongside the senior management staff to control and manage all issues on the project including advising on how best to minimise risk and maximise opportunities that may arise.
Liaison with the Client’s representatives on all matters relating to the contracts and the procurement and valuation of work and ensuring that relationships with those external consultants are maintained and enhanced throughout the life of the projects.
The Person:
The ideal candidate will hold a degree in quantity surveying and preferably with experience of successfully managing the commercial aspects of construction projects with a main contractor.
Could be a Project QS ready to take the step to a senior position.
An ability to form effective working relationships with staff and with external consultants, subcontractors and suppliers will be essential.
